Joe is in a Daze.

Two games on this road trip have been blown by Joe Torre’s inept managment of the bullpen. With the rotation as it is right now, you have to win when Moose and Johnson put in good performances. But Joe had no clue with both games. As I said many times before they are [...]

Questions of the Day

1) Don’t know.
2) Nope.
3) Nope. My confidence in Cashman is at an all time low.

Questions of the Day

Possibly
No
I hope so

Questions of the Day

1) Is Giambi back on juice?
2) Can Gordon ever deliver when true, hard pressure is on his shoulders?
3) Will Cashman produce anything by trading deadline?

Nice Victory

Blow me down! I don’t think anyone could have expected that Aaron Small, a 33 year old minor league journeyman would throw a quality game against one of the better lineups in baseball (certainly I did not). I still feel that a sweep was squandered in Arlington.

This Date in Baseball – July 21

1975 _ Joe Torre of the New York Mets grounded into four double
plays in a 6-2 loss to the Houston Astros. Felix Millan had four
singles but was wiped out each time by Torre.
(I want to see Kim Jones ask Torre about this tonight)

Nice Victory

Nice surprise performance from Aaron Small along with 6 homeruns including 2 from the BamTino. I hope Jeter’s slump is not like the one he went through at the beginning of last season. Toughest 4 games of the road trip coming up. Johnson has to set the tone right away. And [...]

Progress

Perhaps I should go to Italy to get calmed down. I can’t look at this team as a “lovable, rag-tag group of young players” that is doing a good job by getting to within striking distance of first place given how they have played. Although the team is a little more likeable (with [...]

Progress

Len,
That is a very calm and collected evaluation. Italy must agree with you.
Goda il vostro soggiorno in Italia. Osservo in avanti al vostro ritorno.
(Enjoy your stay in Italy. I look forward to your return)
Preghi per il Yankees.
(Pray for the Yankees)

I like the progress we made

One-half game out of first place is not bad from where we came from and with all of the injuries on the pitching staff.
All in all Torre has done a good job. I like the addition of Al Leiter because he knows how to win and can pitch in a big, important game. [...]
