Clutch-o-Meter Update
by RussI agree with most of the clutch-o-meter, which is why Mike T. does it – he’s got a good feel for it. Sierra should be a little higher, but not too high because you can’t be clutch when you’ve got an aching hammy.
Despite hitting below the Mendoza line with RISP, A-Rod’s HR last night was as clutch as you can get in the regular season. But, the fact he gets to 7.2 speaks to how bad he’s been lately it’s on the mark.
I agree with the pitching ratings. Starting them out at 6.0 is appropriate because generally speaking, only one guy has been clutch on the staff. I would say recent downward movers lately: Leiter, Gordon, Sturtze, Johnson, and Mussina. Recent upward movers: Chacon, Rivera, and Small. Holding steady but the grip is slipping: Proctor, Franklin, and Embree.
