They should change the name of the team to the New York “we refuse to give a win to our spot starters who pitch their hearts out” Yankees. Proctor gave us more than you could expect or ask for in his start. I was truly impressed. He continued to throw strikes even after the Dellucci homeruns and I couldn’t beleive he made it to the sixth.

Sturtze needs to get out of this funk and Gordon should bring his bucket to the mound. Torre seems to have lost all faith in him in a big situation. But with Felix not stepping up either, that leaves the following list of releivers you can trust:

Mariano Rivera.

Another fabulous job by Mo. I must admit that I was a little worried with the bases loaded 3-1 count on the 4 for 4 Dellucci (who murders the Yanks). I’d take him over Sheff in right.

There is no help coming to this bullpen either. We can only hope for someone like Felix or Proctor to step up and be consistently good. Maybe Small will be okay in the bullpen, but you have to feel bad putting him there after the starts that he has turned in.

By the way, Jeter’s homerun was huge. More than huge. After losing that big lead, you could just see the team falling back into the lethargic “woe is me” offense. That was beeing a leader and really picking up your team.
