In the 9th, Derek Jeter singled to left scoring Jorge Posada and Matt Lawton and bringing the Yanks within one run of tying the game.

Who better to have stepping to the plate than Hideki “Clutch” Matsui? With one out, Womack at second and Jeter at first, the stage was set for Matsui to deliver another clutch hit. But wait, what’s that? A lazy fly ball to center? Ohh no. Two out, down by one run, in the ninth.

Now batting…Gary Sheffield. CRACK! A double to right field and the Yankees tie the game!
