Stanton
For the Red Sox to make this move now speaks volumes about their bullpen. I hope that Embree is not used at all.

Just heard: The Red Sox just traded for Mike Stanton. Pretty funny if Stanton and Embree are in the game at the same time.

I don’t want the Yankees to be satisfied with the wildcard. They need to win the division. I think it would do something for their confidence going into the postseason.
Also, I would love to see Boston go home. I know, the playoffs won’t be as interesting without both Boston and New York. [...]

I don’t care about backing in or losing 2 of 3 to Boston, if the White Sox play hard to send a message that their swoon is over and their division rival goes home to Cleveland for off-season pursuits. It is all about being one of the 2 teams out of three standing after [...]

Tonight should be interesting.
Bedard pitched well in his last start against the Yanks. Gave up only 3 ERs, got a lot of ground ball outs and had 5Ks. Small had similar numbers the last time he faced Baltimore. Tonight should be a close one. They’ve got to get to Bedard early and get [...]

I thought Jaret should have been available yesterday to pitch when the score was 7-5. But Joe confirmed that he will be available Wed. night to pitch in relief. He has pitched relief in the past, and if he doesn’t take long to warm up, his stuff could translate well. He [...]

OK. I have no more insight than anyone else on this matter. But I will voice my thoughts.
I said on August 26th that the Angels would win and that the Indians would overtake the White Sox and knock them to the wild card. It’s very close now with the White Sox [...]

There are 4 guys who are each capable of carrying the Yankees into the post season. A-Rod, Sheff, Giambi and Matsui. Everyone else is a table setter. Right now, it looks like Sheff is breaking out. His swing looks better than it has in weeks. Giambi is showing signs. [...]

Back on August 26, Len said that A-Rod needs to have 5HR and 135 RBI to carry the team to the playoffs, he has 46/127 right now. That would mean 4 HR and 8 RBI over the next 5 games. I think that would pretty much do it.
Another thing is that Jeter [...]

John and Mike make interesting points regarding Mussina for Sunday’s game. The bottom line is winning and we really won’t care about yesterday’s loss as long as we are in the playoffs.
I hope Joe Torre has everyone available for the weekend games, especially Sunday’s game if it is critical. We all remember [...]
