I had to do some research on this to confirm my thoughts. I knew that Mo and Jeter both made appearances in 1995 and really became full time players in 1996. I suspected that Mo was first to arrive in pinstripes. What I was surprised to learn is that Mo’s Major League debut (May 23, 1995) was only six days before Jeter’s Major League debut (May 29, 1995). So, it would seem, Mo has rights to the locker, as he should, because even though Jeter is the Captain, the Mayor is the Mayor.
