Predictions

Ok – I can’t stand the silence and lack of baseball talk. I heard the Red Sox signed Alex Gonzalez and Coco Crisp. Their infield therefore consists of the following:
Kevin Youkilas (1B), Mark Loretta (2B), Alex Gonzalez (SS) and Mike Lowell (3B). Coco Crisp in CF. Since when did the [...]

Piazza

Going to the Yankees is great for Piazza. I don’t think the Yankees need him as much. True, he is a presence to be reckoned with and is a clutch performer who is familiar with NYC. He hits well in Yankee Stadium too by the way. But the Yankees do not [...]

Piazza

Len, you just like him because he’s Italian.

Piazza

Let me go on record that I want the Yankees to get Mike. I know he is only a DH, but his presence in the lineup could make a hugh difference, especially if Bernie falters, which is quite possible.
My reasons. My decision is based on Giambi playing first base for most [...]

Piazza, Cashman and Stick

Read in Newsday today that it looks like the Yankees are going to pass on Piazza. Apparantly Cashman discussed it with his scouts, in particular Gene Michael. The “Boss” has stayed out of it. If this is true, then it’s another example of Cashman’a authority this year and how “Stick” is influencing [...]

Mama don’t let…

…..your babies grow up to be catchers. Almost sad what the job requirements and the tools of ignorance do to the body. Mike Piazza looking for a back-up, DH role with the Yanks. The Yanks just issued the politeness go-away, that better be all it was.
And on lineup performance predictions- I think the [...]

My Predictions

OK – here it goes since it’s a slow period in sports:
Damon (.290, 21 HRs, 87 RBIs, .365, 128 Runs scored, 31 SBs) solid, more RBI opp.
Jeter (.315, 23 HRs, 85 RBIs, .392, 126 Runs scored) Very nice year from the cap.
A-Rod (.333, 47 HRs, 140 RBIs, .410, 120 Runs scored) He’s a robot.
Matusi [...]

My predictions

CF Damon (.295, 15, 81, .345) – good solid year but below last year stats
SS Jeter (.330, 21, 78, .375) – average will benefit from surrounding batters
3B A-Rod (.335, 50, 138, .405) – another MVP type year – hope he doesn’t die in th playoffs
LF Matsui (.285, 22, 105, .350) – Streak starts to [...]

2006 Lineup Performance Predictions

Since we have the Roundtable as an archive – let’s try something different. Let’s each predict what we believe will be the individual player performances in 2006. At the end of the year, we ‘ll compare who came the closest. My prediction:
Stats are as follows: (BA, HR, RBI, OBP)
CF Damon (.283, 17, 87, .315)
SS Jeter [...]

Epstein

I believe that Theo will be named Vice President, Baseball Operations with the Co-GMs reporting to him.
This move really makes Sox management look silly. It’s mid-January and they have no shortstop or center fielder. They’ve proved that they have no clue what they’re doing.
Theo kept in close contact with John Henry through [...]
