Did you ever wonder why pitchers and catchers are always the first to report when by mid-August the pitching coach is working against burn out and “tired arms” (Tanyon Sturtze, e.g.). And for catchers the knees go so get them in early for extra squats too(?). Every major league level pitch damages the arm, I don’t buy much into the building arm strength argument. If pitch count is so important in an individual game, why not cumulative count entire year?
