The MLB is relatively silent right about now. The players and owners exchange Arbitration numbers tomorrow, and the owners meet in Scottsdale, AZ this week. Otherwise not much going on. There are still some “former big name” Free Agents still available, but they are mostly guys past their primes (Sosa, Thomas, Piazza, Juan Gonzalez, Palmeiroids). Interesting players who are 1) 33 or younger, 2) not Roger Clemens, and 3) still free agents Erubiel Durazo, Alex Gonzalez, Richard Hidalgo, Jose Lima, Bengie Molina, Ugeth Urbina (assuming he ever gets out of that Venezualian jail cell), Daryl Ward, Jeff Weaver. Most of these guys are decent bench players for NL clubs. I am surprised Weaver is still available (even though he can’t pitch in NY).
