Until A-Rod wins a championship (and is instrumental in doing so) all of his statements and positions will be scrutinized to the Nth degree. Too bad the Yankees can’t save him from himself and issue a blanket statement that because of his value to the team and contract value he will be sitting out the WBC. Of course with Jeter playing, that statement would ring a little hollow.

As bad as A-Rod is at spin control, I don’t think that even A-Rod would have been as boneheaded as Peyton Manning was in saying “I want to be a good teammate here…..Let’s just say we had some problems with protection.”
