Footnote/Correction: My reconsideration of Jim Rice’s case for the Hall of Fame was prompted by Raul Caneiro, who is a frequent reader and fan of this site. After an objection by him, I re-evaluated Rice’s statistics based upon the era in which he played and placed him in the appropriate context. I apologize to Mr. Caneiro for originally not citing him properly as a source. Despite this correction, Mr. Caneiro is still very confused as to the justification(s) for electing Bruce Sutter to the Hall of Fame. Justifications which were explained very slowly and simply so that even he could understand. But you know what they say… “[y]ou can lead a horse to water….”
