New Stadium
by RussI, for one, like the renditions I’ve seen for New Yankee Stadium. Of course there will be a time to get “poetic” about the ‘76 edition of the Stadium as I’m sure fans were nostalgic about the Old Yankee Stadium. My understanding is that there are going to be taking the facade and other parts from the existing structure and incorporating them into the new one. I’m sad to see it go – it’s been my “home” away from home and unfortunate that my daughter, Joss (10 weeks old today), will have no memory of this Stadium before it passes into history.
As for Shea, few will shed a tear when it is removed from this Earth. It’s greatest moments can be boiled down to a few: The clinching of the 1969 World Series, the 1986 World Series (and Game 6) and of course since this is a Yankee site, the clinching of the 2000 Subway Series with Piazza’s ball settling into Bernie’s glove and subsequent celebration.
