OK – here it goes since it’s a slow period in sports:

Damon (.290, 21 HRs, 87 RBIs, .365, 128 Runs scored, 31 SBs) solid, more RBI opp.
Jeter (.315, 23 HRs, 85 RBIs, .392, 126 Runs scored) Very nice year from the cap.
A-Rod (.333, 47 HRs, 140 RBIs, .410, 120 Runs scored) He’s a robot.
Matusi (.294, 29 HRs, 120 RBIs, .363) I see no reason for a drop off.
Sheffield (.303, 33 HRs, 115 RBIs, .398) Tough, I think he’ll diminsh but it is a contract yr.
Giambi (.288, 35 HRs, 95 RBIs, .420) He’ll have plenty of guys on base.
Posada (.250, 17 HRs, 70 RBIs, .355) – I agree. I’m being optimistic though.
Williams (.262, 16 HRs, 61 RBIs, .345) At this point – we’ll take this in a heartbeat.
Cano (.285, 18 HRs, 75 RBIs, .329, 24 errors) I see a rough year in the field for Robby.

How about this:

Johnson (19-8, 3.40) A bit of a bounce back, but still not the dominator.
Pavano (14-10, 4.10) Some flashes of brilliance, but probably frustrating overall.
Mussina (12-9, 4.20) Probably the best we can hope for out of Moose. Time catches up.
Wang (15-6, 3.22) We will look forward to his starts every 5th day.
Chacon (13-11, 3.85) Bullpen is probably worn out by the time they get to his turn, but nothing to be ashamed of. The win totals are more a function of the lineup which will be able to bail out the starters if they have a shaky start.
The bullpen:
Look for another stellar season from Rivera, but innings are down to conserve him. The rest of the bullpen will probably be a barrell of monkeys and although the star power on this team will attract the most attention – this component of the team will be the focus of knowledgeable fans.
In Conclusion:
The sheer offensive power of this team leads one to believe that over the course of a regular season, shortcomings in the bullpen can be overcome on a night to night basis. Torre will be tested once again in terms of his handling of the bullpen, the most difficult part of a manager’s job. Some say Torre probably had to “manage more” last year than in previous years – whether he did it well enough throughout his 10th season is up for debate. His managerial prowess will be tested again for his 11th campaign. Still, because he handles the modern baseball player so well, there’s no reason to think that these guys won’t enjoy playing for him yet again in order to attain their individual statistic plateaus which will probably translate into a 100 win season. Now, whether this group can “sacrifice” their own particular interests in order to destroy the American League in the playoffs en route to an incredible 40th World Series appearance remains to be seen.
