Brushes with Yankees

I had a number of Brushes with Yankees when I published Sports Card Trader, but here are a couple of unusual ones. I had a press pass to the 1992 Yankee fan fest at the Javits center. Got to say a word or two to alot of yankees past and present, but there [...]

By the way…

I did see the Ken Williams interview and saw Frank Thomas’ interview as well. I think Williams should have taken the high-road, he sounded like an unprofessional fool.
I think Thomas enjoyed the fact that Williams responded as he did. Thomas took the high road with his response.
Let’s just say that we [...]

YES-HD

From what my direct TV installer told me, when the Yankees broadcast in HD, Direct TV has another channel that you can switch to to view the channel in HD. The rest of the time there is nothing on the channel (kind of like the extra ESPN channels in the 200’s that don’t have [...]

Lazy Boy, Baseball Tonight, and Yes-HD

Funny, I used to play a lot of pool at the Lazy Boy in White Plains. I never witnessed it, but I did hear that Yankees had been seen there from time to time.
I love Baseball Tonight.
I addressed a question to the board a while back: Anyone have Yes-HD? If so, [...]

Baseball Tonight

Is back on ESPN. Woo Hoo. Did anyone see the interview with Ken Williams White Sox GM? Man he was pissed at Frank Thomas. Check out Williams comments here.

Brushes with Yankees

Interesting story John. Sounds like it was a fun event. Jeanne and I went to a charity auction for Westchester Medical Center Children’s hospital at MSG in 2000. The Charity hosts were David Cone and Mike Richter. Richter was very quiet. Cone wasn’t and was very friendly. Jeanne and [...]

Clemens buzzed Koby

Yesterday, Koby Clemens took his father deep on the first pitch he saw from him in a simulated game that Roger pitched at Astros camp.
In Koby’s next at-bat, Roger buzzed him with a high and tight fastball that put Koby on his rear end.
Nice.

Clemens

As I’m sure we all know, Roger named all his kids staring with the letter K for strikeout.. You can add a K nickname for Roger himself……Kook. Go away, already and start the clock for your Hall of Fame induction.

Man crush on Tino????

The Tino chat isn’t an interview you’d listen to, it’s a way for ESPN.com visitors to submit their questions to someone hosting the chat (Rob Neyer, Jason Stark, Peter Gammons, Steve Phillips, Buster Olney, and now…Tino Martinez) and get real-time responses…just like a chat room.
Mike G, here is a link to the Tino chat. [...]

Who cares… but

You can file this AP report under who cares, but it is kind of interesting that a father is pitching to his son in spring training camp. I wonder if this has ever happenned before??
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) _ Roger Clemens’ son took dad deep on the
Rocket’s first pitch of spring training, crushing a trademark
fastball [...]
