My whole family went to see Billy Joel last night. What a big group ahead of us was chanting in the stairwell exiting after the concert was not one of the songs they heard minutes before at the show. It was “Boston sucks”. I love NY.

One thought here: If Gene Michael is truly back in the consulting fold, and Cashman has authority – I can see this happening. The Astros need a first baseman (Duncan) and they’re not going anywhere anyway, they won’t be inclined to pay Andy the $$$ for a new deal.

The Andy Pettitte to the Yankees rumors continue to swirl. I’m not sure how this would make any sense for the Astros. While Andy certainly isn’t free from risk of injury, I’d much rather have him in the rotation than Wright or Pavano.

That’s Pavano’s wife’s name (kidding). So we have Pavano questionable back to add to Mussina’s questionable age, and Johnson’s questionable age and diminished arm speed (and he’s a dimwit besides.) Good thing the Red Sox imploded over the off season, we may need that indirect help.

Pitchers and Catchers have to report by 12 pm. Apparently, everyone has reported already.
Torre had a four hour meeting with the new coaching staff – presumably to arrange who is going to handle which duties. Apparently, Steinbrenner made an appearance for a little “pep talk.” I would have loved to [...]

No apology necessary on Cheney, outside of human suffering, even Republicans see the humor. Ditto on Daily Show- a friend of mine’s son is on Jon Stewart’s staff, says he is a good guy with no big ego.

Oh… Mets pitchers and catchers report today. Maybe Pedro will threaten to throw at some scrub’s head.

A quick note: I’m glad the “Roundtable Day” is gaining momentum. This is a long way off – but if Mike T. is willing to host, that’s great. I will obviously help out in any way I can.
