Mea Culpa

My last post re: Murcer was callous, I missed the little brain operation detail in the prior posts. Idiot.
My Christmas stocking was Yankee friendly. Joel Sherman’s book on the 1996 Yankees, Birth of a Dynasty. Also,a  nicely bound tabloid size book of reproduced Daily News Yankee historic stories, Babe to 2006, as they originally appeared.
And the show stopper, a [...]

Zito

Well, Barry has a off-center (not a criticism) personality indeed more suited to the Bay area, where he will remain as a Giant. Now we need a new mid-winter story/controversy. Bonds and steroids is so been there.
Bobby Murcer is a fine individual. But I knew Jim Kaat, Senator, and he is no Jim Kaat. The [...]

Holy “You know what!”

Yes, agreed on Bobby Murcer.  I hope he comes through and he’s back in the booth in 2007.  A classy gentleman in every sense of the term.
Now, on to the “Holy ‘you know what’” portion of this post.  I just heard (and subsequently read) that Zito is signing with the Giants for $126 million.  I [...]

Mike, Great Job

Michael, great job on the revised website.
In addition to saying prayers for the Gerald Ford family I just found out that Bobby Murcer will undergio brain surgery to remove a tumor. Murcer is one of my favorite all time Yankees. A class act on and off the field.
Happy New Year to all. [...]

Good Article

Mike you suggested a good article by Scott Miller.  Miller brings up a point that I said in my Nov. 28, 2006 post entitled: “McDonald’s and the HOF” which he calls “continuing education.”  We know things now in 2006 that we didn’t 10 years ago or more.  But Miller brings up a good point that [...]

Voice of Reason

Finally, a sportswriter who understands integrity and the sanctity of the Hall of Fame.  Scott Miller from Sportsline writes that he did not and will not vote for Mark McGuire on his Hall of Fame ballot.  Basically, if you discount McGuire’s HR totals, the rest of his resume is extremely lacking.  Lets hope there are [...]

Randy Rumors

Looks like the Padres are stepping up to the plate for Randy Johnson.  Although he didn’t have a good second half, I’ll take Scott Linebrink for bullpen help.  The interesting thing is whether Randy will accept a deal to San Diego.  The Yankees are in a great position because trading him is optional (although realistically [...]

Flags fly at half staff today

We acknowledge the passing of the 38th President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford.

Randy Rumors

Yes!  Let’s get this guy out of town!  I am willing to admit that I made a mistake with Randy.  I was an advocate for acquiring him 2 years ago thinking that he could do “warm up” in the regular season and save himself for the post season and work some magic.  I mean, he [...]
