Mike you suggested a good article by Scott Miller.  Miller brings up a point that I said in my Nov. 28, 2006 post entitled: “McDonald’s and the HOF” which he calls “continuing education.”  We know things now in 2006 that we didn’t 10 years ago or more.  But Miller brings up a good point that I overlooked.  The chickens are coming home to roost!  Everyone involved in baseball suspected the use of steroids (including the writers – but especially players) and looked the other way.  McGwire made this “Devil Went Down to Georgia” bargain when he took steroids all those years ago. He wanted the golden fiddle but lost to the Devil.  Now, the Devil gets his soul.  If he accepted the accolades of breaking the records and all of the admiration that went along with it, he must accept the derision and resentment that comes with the discovery of this dispicable fact. Good article and I’m glad he did not vote for McGwire.  Hopefully, many others will read his article and will be influenced.Â
