A Final Note on The Giants.
by Mike TThey suck. Coughlin should be fired. Everything that plagued the team all year hit them yesterday. Inconsistent offense, defense coming up short when it matters, stupid penalties, no discipline on the field, poor clock management.
During the press conference, Coughlin said “let’s look at the positives, we converted a 2nd and 30!” Well Tommy boy, the reason the team was 1st and 30 was because of two stupid false start penalties and a holding call. And let’s not forget how the Giant’s inability to simply line up for a play cost them two valuable time outs in the 2nd half. Lorenzen saw an illegal formation and called a time out, Tyree lined up on the wrong side of the field and Eli had to call a time out. You think the Giants could have used those somewhere the final Eagles drive?
Which brings up another point. When the Giants got 1st and 10 on the Eagles 23 in the 4th quarter (before the three consecutive penalties), I turned to my father-in-law and said “They are going to tie it up on this drive, then lose on a field goal in the final minute.” Why did I say this? Because all season long, the defense has been unable to stop a drive when it actually matters. The Eagles ran off over 5 minutes on the final drive. When the Eagles got to the Giant 20 with about 1:13 remaining and the Giant’s had no time outs, I openly called for the defense to allow the Eagles to score a TD so at least there would be some time on the clock.
I know it is unorthodox, and Eli does not instill much confidence, but was there any doubt in anyone’s mind that Akers was going to make the kick and the Giants would have no time to do anything? Why not roll the dice Tom, you’ve been terrible all year. I know Dallas messed up on their chip shot field goal, but a) the Seahawks were leading and b) there was going to be time left in the game and c) the Hawks had time outs!
The good thing is these morons can no longer frustrate me this season, and I can start thinking about spring training.
