This is why the BBWA needs to take away voting privileges from some of these morons.  Get a load of this jerk who decided that because the steroid era 1993-2004 is full of so many questions, he submitted a blank HOF ballot.  First, when has anyone ever hinted that either Gwynn or Ripken were steroid users?  Second, give me a break.  Tony Gwynn looked like the Pillsbury Dough Boy and was a singles hitter, 8 time batting champion and holder of a .350 career average.  Ripken is probably among the top 3 Shortstops of all time. Third, what about the other candidates on the ballot like Gossage, Rice, Dawson etc.  I guess if he didn’t vote for them in the past, then no harm but really.

Look, if you want to stand on your soap box and say no one deserves a unanimous 1st ballot.  Fine.  No one has ever gone in unanimous.  Nolan Ryan and Seaver were closest at almost 99%.  Every year one or two of these writers tries to steal some spotlight for themselves by not voting for a clearly worthy candidate just to see there name at the top of the national headlines.  Guess what jerk.  You are not important and denying a vote to Gwynn or Ripken because they played in the steroid era is ludicrous.
