Here are my top 5 points for why the Yankees should sign Clemens as explained by various pop culture references.

1.  Roger and Me.  For whatever reason, Andy needs Clemens to get him fully motivated.  I am hopeful that the Bronx return provides enough motivation, but I doubt it.

2.  Sanford and Son.  Are the Yankees really ready to put faith in Garbage man Carl Pavano?  He is always just another “This is the big one” from the disabled list.

3.  The Karate Kid.  Do you think Kei “Danielsan” Igawa is going to be any good without a season of expert guidance?  He can’t be counted on yet.

4.  Bull Durham.  Philip Hughes is the kid with the million dollar arm that needs the crafty advice of the veteran on his last tour.  I think Hughes could learn alot from Clemens, especially since they apparently have similar pitching styles. Same goes for that Oberhoff guy that the Yankees got in the Randy trade.

5. The Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven. If you add Clemens, you have Seven potential starters, Mussina, Pettitte, Wang, Clemens, Igawa, Pavano, and Hughes. That should be enough to clean up this town and the stench of the 2003 loss to the Fish, the 2004 loss to the Sox, the 2002 and 2005 losses to the Angels, and the 2006 loss to Detroit.Â
