Again, no career retrospectives at this time.  I read some quotes off of the official site from Bernie and it seems like he’s got the right attitude.  It doesn’t sound like he’s got a burning desire to play for another team.  It would appear that if the Yankees come calling for his limited role, then he’ll play but it didn’t sound like he was enamoured by being a non-roster invitee to spring training.  I believe, however, if he went to spring training he may very well earn a spot.  But I wouldn’t blame Bernie one bit if he didn’t want to participate.  Looking at the big picture, I don’t think either side owes the other anything.  Bernie Williams has given the Yankees so much over the years – and the Yankees rewarded him with an incredible mult-year deal worth over $87 million.  He has definitely made his money and left his mark.
