If I’m the Twins GM, and I’m looking at Morneau, Mauer and Santana and I have to trade one (or even two) of these players, the last one I look to move is Santana.  The first one I look to move is Morneau.  However, that assumes Santana wishes to stay – I don’t know Santana, he may be looking to get out of Minnesota and not willing to work with the Twins.  If he’s looking to get out, the Twins should look to move him this year.  The closer he gets to free agency, the less they will get in return.

And by the way, let Boston spend their money on Helton.  As it has been mentioned on this site many times by many people, Cashman is doing the right thing to make sure the Yankees have $$$ and young talent to make a run at Santana.Â
