A very good post.  Jeter does have these shortcomings.  He is 32 now.  He’s got to start acting like a “take charge” veteran.  There can be no sweeping things under the rug.  Everyone knows how I feel about Torre.  Torre was great when we had the “self starter” group as I call them.  O’Neill, Cone, Tino and Girardi kept the clubhouse in order.  I don’t know if Jeter feels he is above it all or what.  Maybe he just feels that he takes care of his part (playing shortstop and performing well at the plate) and that’s it.  But that is not enough.  I usually say when you are Captain of the NY Yankees, you are elevated to something else because of the franchise and the other men you have held that title.  Jeter must realize that he is something more than just a shortstop, an All-Star caliber shortstop.  He is going to be judged harshly I feel in this regard but I don’t think it’s unjustified.
