Game One

It’s good to see Yankee baseball again.  March Madness (which ended in April) is over, and pro basketball and hockey are not very relevant, at least to the Roundtable.

I didn’t see A-Rod’s blooper, but it’s amazing how controversy follows him.  Jeter made an error too.

Pavano was just Ok. He better get better because an ERA [...]

Johnny Damon cramps up yesterday

Game one and the Yanks had to go to the bench for an outfielder. Keep working out Bernie Williams, the call from the front office may come.

“Interesting Move”

I merely point out the bunt, not because it is incorrect, but because there have been other, (too many to name) situations where a bunt was the “proper” play, but Torre did not utiliize it.  As I said, the Yankees have basically taken the bunt out of the offense since the days of Zimmer.  Personally, I don’t believe either letting [...]

Stupidity starts with the media

Today’s Newsday had a 6 page special section on the Yankees game.  Four pages were about A-Rod and 2 on the rest of the team and game.  The lead article had the slug ” For comedy, Drama, go right to Alex”.  The same moronic fans that boo A-Rod, are the ones that are reading the [...]

Demitasse

Gee, Russ, Torre bunts for Phelps, second and third and then Jeter ties the game. That is not an “interesting” move. It was the correct move. We are not pinch hitting for Gehrig there.
Also, I never heard of starting a pitch count on your closer in the first game of the season. Be he age [...]

Cup of Joe

April 2, 2007 – Bronx, New York – Opening Day at Yankee Stadium. This edition of opening would have been more poetic had it not been for the noteworthy items that occurred.  By the way, the new stadium is coming along.  Besides the big hole in the ground, you can see (from the parking garage the progress [...]
