Len has hit on something here. Aside from pitching as the biggest factor which produces success in the game of baseball, the old expression is that a team has to be strong up the middle. Posada is the anchor to that C-SS-2B-CF middle for the Yanks, and, at this point, I would argue more so than Jeter of those four. We have looked for clubhouse leadership from the Yanks, and Jeter does not seem the most effective captain. The more Jorge steps up in the clubhouse for the team this year the better. Maybe keep the comments more in-house, though.
