Nice cup of Joe by Mike.  I like his take since I have been a consistent A-Rod apologist.  Baseball is hard because it is so easy to let failure breed more failure.  But occassionally, the converse is true as well: Success breeds success.  It looks like A-Rod is having fun and happy.  I’d be having fun too if I hit 6 dingers in 7 games.  What’s not fun about that?  I’m obviously trying to be funny here but the point is understood. Confidence is everything (or lack thereof). As Crash Davis in Bull Durham says “Don’t f*%K with a winning streak.  Why?  Because they don’t happen very often.”  Yankee fans better get in line and start showing A-Rod some respect – this guy is going to have a killer year and then have the Yankees over a barrel.  Then who exactly is going to play third and hit cleanup?

With regard to Posada, I wrote a post a year ago which gave some of his negatives and positives.  Positives that I mentioned is that Posada plays hard and takes being a Yankee seriously.  In other words, being a Yankee means something to Jorge Posada.  And I’m sure it annoyed him that “being a Yankee” wasn’t important to the guys who are no longer here.  I’m sure Jorge is glad to have Andy back.  I’m a firm believer in the fact that for whatever reason, George disrespected Andy when he became a free agent and was more enamoured with signing Sheffield.  Andy walked, but I truly believe that being a Yankee means something to Andy and you can hear that in Jorge’s voice.
