Before the game last night I was watching an interview with Posada.  He expressed how bad he felt after losing the series to Detroit last year.  He also commented that he wants the guys to play as a team this year.  Of course, no mention was made to any specific player and the interviewer did not probe into what Posada meant.  Let me take the liberty here and put some words to what Posada was referring to.  Randy and Gary were big problems on the team last year.  They may have wanted to win but their focus was, and always has been, on their individual contribution to the “team.”  Does anyone miss them?  You can argue that those two guys cost the Yankees big time in achieving the ultimate goal of winning a WS.

The little things last night impressed me.  A-Rod walking in his last at bat and the intentional walk to him.  Melky getting three hits to the left side.  Cano doing the same.

One guy we have missed over the past three years was Andy Pettitte. Imagine if the Yankees invested in him rather than Randy.

Final point.  I thought that Posada would be way past his productive years by now.  This guy is still one of the most productive catchers in the game and Tony Pena made him a better receiver.
