Clutch Count
+3 for A-Rod. I’m not sure if this justifies a discretionary extra “+1″ for the surrounding circumstances. Would like to know what other Roundtablers think.

I just got done with a meeting and figured I check the score. What the Heck! AHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! As Kevin Costner said in JFK: “We are through the looking glass here people, what’s white is black, what’s black is white.” What a turnaround! I can’t even say that he is so locked in anymore – it [...]

Jeter definitely reads the Roundtable and actively monitors the clutch count. His generous remarks toward A-Rod are already changing his Karma – he’s gone a couple of games, without making an error.
Switching the malcontents of Sheffield/Johnson for Pettitte is something I was in favor of last October when Pettitte was on the verge of filing for [...]

It’s obvoius that Jeter reads the Roundtable on a regular basis and saw my post on changing his Karma. There could be no other reason for him to say complimentary things about A-Rod. This can only help Jeter’s on-the-field performance. I think the comments about Sheffield’s negative influence on A-Rod are very insightful and right [...]

In my Big Year, Welcome February post from February 1st, I touched on the impact the loss of Sheffield/Johnson would have on the club.
I mentioned how those guys were a bad influence on A-Rod and other young players and that they were also an impediment to Jeter truely being comfortable leading the clubhouse.
Yesterday, Jeter made a [...]

Ok. Here’s my two minute hockey rant. I don’t watch regular season hockey because it means nothing, but the Islanders sucked me in this season. They were making a solid playoff push then were ravaged by injuries. The added a spectacular player in Ryan Smith and squeeked into the playoffs on some outstanding goaltending by a [...]

I like the Sheffield analysis. He was a big influence in that clubhouse, especially A-Rod, who is more of a follower rather than a leader. Sheffield is a leader because of his big mouth. He set the tone. I honestly don’t know how Sheffield had such a high on base percentage. I watched him for [...]

For the untested (for Igawa, MLB untested) pitchers we are putting out there, it has to be most helpful to their confidence anticipating the massive run support they are seeing. Everyone in the lineup got a hit last night, and RBI situations were frequently converted. It looked like batters expected to deliver, I saw hungry determined [...]
