Hey, it’s the kid’s first start.  Let’s give him some love.  I saw a little bit in spring training.  And although I’m not going to say things like: “This guy has phoenomenal stuff.”  I thought it was good, certainly good enough to get MLB hitters out.  Pitching is more than just “stuff.”  I also saw that he does generally have a plan.  The problem at this level is that Major League hitters adjust quickly and can discern pitching patterns immediately.  If he gives up a few hits early (especially to Vernon Wells) and hope he keeps his poise.  We’ll be watching with great interest – as they say.

The rainout obviously allows the Yankees to throw Pettitte Friday night.  Whew!  What a break!
