That’s two good outings in a row for Moose. It was an interesting note last night (I’m not sure if you all heard) that he has only won back to back outings once since June of 2005. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he has not pitched well in back to back outings, but I know I have noticed an “every other” pattern with him. He looked sharp and it was good to see him battle through when he was not getting calls that he is accustomed to getting. There were definitely some strike 3 calls that he should have had, and that can sometimes lead to a breakdown for Mussina. But, he didn’t give in and continued to throw good pitches.

It was also nice to see the players having some fun when Nieves got his first hit, and then watching their reaction as he tried to turn it into a double. You get the feeling that everyone really likes this guy and you hope that this sparks him and he can at least provide a little bit of offense.

I thought Torre had a quick trigger with Bruney. I might have given him the chance to work out of the jam. But, Myers actually got the lefty out, and Proctor looked nasty. My sad realization was that I was actually a little nervous (not necessarily about the game… they had a 4 run lead) when Rivera gave up a hard-hit leadoff single after having the guy 1-2. It sure is taking him a while to get his location down.
