Russ is right, Torre’s stewardship of this listing and lifeless ship with a bunch of mercanaries who care only about their paycheck and little about winning has robbed me of my passion for this team. Examples:

Friday, after Torre took out Clippard too early, he brought in the Rookie who had never pitched out of the pen in a 1 run game and immediately blew the game up.  A 3-2 game turned into a 6-2 game in minutes.  I watched the bottom of the inning, saw Jeter and Posada scratch out a run (Matsui and A-Rod layed down), and then saw Vizcaino walk give up the single and Home Run to Chone Figgins (A GUY HITTING .130 with NO HOME RUNS!!!).  At that point, I decided, I am not going to frustrate myself by watching this team throw another game away.  I switched channels to NATIONAL BINGO NIGHT!!  Yes, a TV program with a giant ping pong machine and a Bingo game was more entertaining and less stressful than watching the Yankees.

Sunday - After tailgaiting with friends, I went to Sunday’s game with a copy of the N.Y. Post.  Why? Because I thought the paper would be more entertaining than the Game.  It was.  Another Bonehead move by Torre, Yanking Moose too soon, bringing in Proctor instead of Bruney (Proctor should have been used in the 8th).  I read the “Wierd but True” section out loud to the delight of the few people around me.  It kept me from getting to angry.  Matt commented that he comes to the game now to see friends, not to watch the games.

THIS IS WHAT JOE TORRE’S inept managing and the heartless banged up oldies on the field have done to the fanbase.  Watching Bingo and reading the paper.  Awful.

P.S. – Someone told me that after the game on Sunday, Torre said something like “The fans are mising the big picture” with respect to his decision to lift Moose.  Are we?  To me the big picture is to win games, and lifting pitchers who are dominating a game to bring in your most overworked reliever is not big picture.   Russ and I said, with $200M we could manage this team to 21 wins in 49 games. Heck a ham sandwich could probably do it.  So what is Joe adding?

Team Meetings – Yes over the last 4 seasons, the Yankees have probably led the league in the “Team Meeting” stat. Those meetings, never really result in anything, because the mercanaries all know nothing is going to change.  The post reported that the team meeting yeterday was a “free for all” and went into the stretching session.  The result was the players didn’t go over the scouting reports.   Great plan.  Be LESS PREPARED to play your opponents.
