Cup o’ Cable

Here’s my two cents on Man vs. Wild, Deadliest Catch, and Ice Truckers.
Man vs. Wild is a copycat of “Survivorman” which is an excellent show.  Much like the guy in “Man vs. Wild”, The Surviorman is dropped in remote location and has to survive for 7 days, trying to rescue himself with the bare minimum.  [...]

Cup o’ Broccoli Rabe

How about reviews of Italian restaurants?

Cup o’ Film

I missed the game last night to go see the premiere of Live Free or Die Hard. After hearing the results of the game, I was glad I did. While I would have been frustrated and miserable after the game, I left the theater happy and amazed that a 4th installment of a [...]

Summer of our discontent…

If it keeps up like this the Yanks will be so boring to blog about we may need new features.
Cup O’ Rum – discussions as to which summer drinks are we prefer at poolside this summer.
Cup O’ Par – discussions of our various golf outings. I don’t golf, but that won’t keep me from pontificating with uneducated [...]

R.I.P.

Goodbye 2007.  You heard it here: The Yankees are done and will not make the playoffs this year. Do not make any moves – stand pat.  This offseason is going to be very expensive.  Do nothing, play out the string.
This declaration has less to do with last night’s loss and more to do with a “feel” [...]

Defense of Scott Proctor

Ok, here it is.  Scott Proctor is an easy target and not the real issue on this team.  The Yankees are 36-38, that is 74 games, less than half the schedule. Here are Proctor’s numbers:
39 appearances, 41.1 innings, 36 Hits, 3.48 ERA, 4 HR allowed, 22 BBs and 27 Ks.
Proctor walks too many batters.  But the [...]

You know its getting bad when…

John S is calling a player “Moron”.  I think that may have been the first time I recall seeing legitimate frustration in John’s posts.  Generally, you have the “back in the day” quality or the veiled disgust with play.  But open hostility… Uh oh…

What a difference

I went to a Yankee game in Camden Yards late last season. Yankee Stadium South, I think 3 of our starters were benched for a rest and we still won no problem. But this year……
Last night was awful. The dropped “After you, Alphonse” fly ball in right center. Proctor showing he caught the pop up [...]

Does the Bullpen phone work Both ways?

Can Mariano pick up the phone and call Torre to give him a clue?  If you give up a run, you lose.  Mo has not pitched.  You are perfectly willing to bring him into games with 4 and 5 run leads, but not willing to bring him in when you need to shut the other [...]

You guys are right.

The Yankees will not concede the season.  Cashman will make whatever pointless moves he can.  I can’t see what moves, in season, will help.  As a matter of fact, I only see making in-season moves as hurting at this point because those moves are not constructive in terms of putting a team together that can [...]
