I’m sure the younger (and most of the older) roundtable readers remember the baseball classic, Major League.  A reasonably attractive former Las Vegas showgirl, Rachel Phelps (played by Margaret Whitton – also of Secret to my Success fame), is trying to run the Indians into the ground so that she can break the lease and move the team to Flordia (souns like Jeff Loria).  The turning point of the season comes when the Manager, Lou Brown, tells the team of the owner’s plans.  To motivate them to additional wins, he gets a cardboard cut out of the owner from her showgirl days and promises to remove one section of her clothing with every win.

The Yankees need to do the same thing, except in reverse.  Because of their first half, the team has to win probably somewhere around 50-55 games in the second half.  That means at the absolute maximum, they can only lose 25 games the rest of the way.  Torre should put a cut out poster of a fully clothed Suzyn Waldman in the clubhouse with 25 strategically placed pieces.  Every loss, a piece comes off the poster.  If you don’t want to see Suzyn naked.  Win.

C'mon You know you want to. Â
