If that’s the case, go out and perform.  We miss the playoffs – no contract for you (and We’re out of the negotiations).  Let’s see what happens when the Yankees publically say they are not bidding for your services.  If a team wants to spend $30M on one player and tie up their resources fine by me.  $30M is three good players.  

By the way – A-rod with his 31st HR in the team’s 86th game is 4 off of Maris pace.  He hit number 35 in game 86 (on July 15).
