Farnsworth talk I thought was funny/appropriate.

Quite obviously, if the New York Yankees are going to make a run at the Red Sox or, more likely, the wild card, they’ll have to find a pitcher or two – they’re in on Gagne – to put in front of Mariano Rivera. Or, as one Yankee official groaned recently, “In all of baseball, [...]

Time to throw out the bad apples.

Time for Farsworth to go.  I am tired of malcontents on this team.  You are playing for the New York Yankees, if you don’t get the job done, you will not see playing time (unless you have naked pictures of Torre like Abreu and Damon apparently do).  Farnsworth is not happy with his diminished role…

Root Cause Analysis – Guidry

John and Len – excellent thoughts.  I agree with everything on John’s “Root Cause Analysis” post with the exception of the Guidry crticism.  To be sure, there are some guys that have not done well.  Is that Guidry’s fault?  Some have done well.  Does Guidry get credit?  I try to take the pitchers one by [...]

JOE HAS TO GO

Joe continues to mismanage this team. The lineup should be compressed with the hot guys bunched up. Abreau should be at the bottom of the lineup. The relief pitching is very weak.
At this point in the season if the Yankees miss the playoffs by a game or two they will look back [...]

Root Cause Analysis

I’ve assembled a list of root causes if the Yanks fail to make the postseason. The list of themes have been recurring topics on the  Rountable this season, but I’ve taken this a step further by parenthetically assigning responsibity for each root cause. We could take this another step by prioritizing the list below. Enjoy.
-Kei Igawa pitched too may games. [...]

A day we can be proud of

Yesterday Ripken and Gwynn were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Two fine ambassadors for the game who recall the days when players stayed with their teams.
I know there may be another persona to Ripken different than his public persona, but when you compare Ripken to some other guys……
Anyway, Sheffield was at it again.  [...]

Abreu killed the rally Friday night too

In the 5th inning with two on – he struck out.  Why is he hitting third again?

Saturday’s loss…

Was SO predictable.  The rally started in the 9th, hit after hit, run after run.  5 hits, 3 runs, 2 men on base, no one out.  What was a 7-1 game is now 7-4 and the O’s are in trouble.  Before they even went to the pitching change, I sent a text to Russ at [...]

New show on YES

After another disappointing loss last night, I stayed up and watched a new show on the YES Network.  It’s called “Celebrity Yankee Fans” hosted by John Sterling.  Last night he was interviewing Giuseppe Franco of the famous Giuseppe Franco Hair Salon in Beverly Hills, CA.  Giuseppe had this to say: “I don’t own the Yankees.  [...]

Games Remaining

Certainly appears logical.  I guess that’s assuming no help – meaning Cleveland, Detroit, Seattle and Boston do not go into the tank.
One more comment on Igawa – If the Yankees finish 2 games out of a playoff spot – I blame Brian Cashman.  His insistence on signing Igawa, and the organization continually running him out [...]
