Willy and the Poor Boys

Let’s take a moment to review the situation across town with the Mets.  I actually watched the Mets game last night because it intriqued me.
No fire in the belly:  Last night was the night to show some fire.  Pedro Martinez on the mound with his “happy go lucky” personality.  You would think that would have [...]

Three more regular season games

Well, the Yanks line-up last night looked like a division conceeding lineup, but they won anyway. Brandon and Alberto and Who-knows played OK. With Torre resting his regulars for the playoffs, by the final game Sunday against the O’s, guess who he plans to start at second base – Guiseppie Franco!! And if Franco uses [...]

I agree

I would rather face the Indians for the reasons cited by John B.  The Angels are hurt and the Indians are due to win a game or two from the Yankees.
However, if the Yankees play up to their potential it really doesn’t matter who the opponet is.  I am more concerned who will be on [...]

Going on record…

I am going on record that I would much rather see the Yankees play the Angels. The Yanks were/are due to beat those guys. Vlad is hurt – and he’s their only real offensive weapon. He can be pitched around. Gary Matthews is hurt.
The Indians are hungry. Hafner, who has been hurt and has had a subpar [...]

Thanks!

From “outincenterfield.com.”  “A sense of humor with great analysis.”  Was the description.  Hey, with reviews like that….

Congrats

I certainly stayed up to watch every last minute of the post game last night. It’s good to get a feel for how a team has gelled from the display last night. When you see Mike Mussina jump on Joba Chamberlain’s back, A-Rod get drenched and pulled away from interviews, etc… [...]

Where’s the love

I was wrong about the team making the playoffs, Torre did a good job guiding the ship through rough seas.  They haven’t won anything yet – if this team goes on to do special things, it will be one of the more remarkable comebacks and will probably clinch Torre’s ticket to the Hall of Fame [...]

Message to Gary Sheffield:

Gary -
This team did not need you. This team did not miss you. This team did not want you. No one cares what you think. No one listens when you speak.
Enjoy the offseason.

Congratulations

Congratulations to a team I thought couldn’t do it.  They proved me wrong.  With the way they were playing, to me it was inconceivable that this team was going to play .700 baseball.  Well, they didn’t play .700 baseball but came very close (.685, I think).  Who could foresee the addition of Joba Chamberlain?  He’s [...]

Where’s the Love

I expected to log on this morning and see Russ have an effusive, sentimental, and heartfelt tribute post to Joe Torre on leading the Yanks to their 12th consecutive post-season under his watch. Then I woke up.
