If at all possible, I would go to Roundtable Day in favor of spending two days going over the scheduled events for this coming weekend.  Russ is right – these annual outings tend to get in the way.

In 2000 I attended the annual meeting in La Quinta (which I must say was actually pretty fun, involved lots of drinking and partying, and some great golf - but that was another firm).  La Quinta is a sprawling resort in Palm Springs.

On Saturday night, the firm’s big reception was held outside under the stars.  Dinner started right around 1st pitch of the World Series vs. the Mets.  One of the partners would leave the dinner return to his suite located only steps away and give us score updates.  We learned of Vizcaino’s 12th inning walk off hit on the dance floor.  After the reception, I went to the hospitality suite and drank until 3:00am Pacific time.  Went back to the room.  Slept for 2 hours.  Then took a car to the Palm Springs Airport, took a 6:00am flight from Palm Springs to LA.  Took a 7:30 AM flight from LA to New York.  Landed around 4:00 or so.  Went home, showered, changed into O’Neill jersey and went to Game 2.  Clemens on the Mound for the infamous Bat throwing game.

In 2003 – In Philly for meetings. We snuck out of the Saturday dinner to go to a sports bar to watch game 1 of the WS vs. Florida with some people from the Miami office.

In 2004  – In Florida.  Skipped the Dinner.  Went to the 19th hole bar, ordered food and drinks and watched Game 3 of the ALCS vs. Boston with people from the Boston office. They totally abandoned their team after the loss.

2005 – The meeting did not conflict with anything b/c Yankees were eliminated.   Same with 2006.   This year the meeting is a little earlier and it conflicts with the Division series. But given that the Phillies will likely be playing on Saturday, I expect there to be some defections.
