I see that Mussina will pitch game four, if necessary.  Well, it better not be necessary because I have no faith in him to pitch a quality game.

Joe’s disciple, Willy Randolph, is a good guy and has Joe’s excellent qualities of managing the media and seemingly managing egos.  However, he also has Joe’s clueless inability to pick the best players to play in the field and on the mound.  Willy may have had no choice but to pitch Glavin, but Joe has options, one being Hughes.

I will go on the record that this is a mistake.  Mussina may have playoff experience but that only matters when the pitcher retains much of the prowess he once had that made him great, or just even good.  Mussina does not have much left and his last game against his old team told me, but obviously not Joe, that he can not be trusted to pitch a big game in the playoffs.  I hope I am wrong.

I see that Damon will play in left field because Matsui’s leg is bothering him.  The comment I read indicated that Matsui would have played in left filed if his leg was Ok.  Once again, Joe is clueless.  Matsui’s play in the outfield cost the Yankees many runs.  Damon should be there regardless of the health of Matsui.  Also, why is Matsui playing in front of Giambi as the DH?  I know Giambi has not played well of late, but I attribute that to infrequent play.  In the playoffs I would rather see Giambi in the DH role.

Also, my comment about Mussina also applies to Clemens.  I am sure he will pitch because of his enormous ego, but that may be a mistake as well.
