I was intrigued to see how the Mets would respond to Maine’s stunning pitching on Saturday.  I flipped on the Mets game in the top of the 1st.  One out and one on.  What ensued was painful to watch (and obviously I am a Yankee fan).  The game got away so fast it was insane.  By the time the Philly game was scheduled to start, the Mets were already down 7-0.  Talk about taking the pressure off the Phils.

I have to give it to Mets fans, they stayed with the team (for a few innings) and tried to be positive.  The Mets got one back in the bottom of the first and had bases loaded.  Then it looked as though Ramon Castro got enough of a Willis pitch for a grand slam, but it only reached the warning track. That was the end of the inning and basically the end of the Met season.

This one will haunt die hard Met Fans for a long time.  I think John’s comparison of a large Asteroid heading toward earth is appropriate.    Â
