Now that third base is “vacant” consider this. A-Rod’s regular season HR’s and RBI’s are gone. One player can’t replace those numbers. So we have to improve in pitching, which with the young arms tried out at the end of the season seems plausible.

How about defense? Jeter’s range at short is diminishing significantly. Jeter to third base for the good of the team. Get a SS with excellent glove, and fair-to-middling bat. Instant improved defense, low dollar outlay. Have to get some more RBI’s from other positions – but the 2007 team model didn’t get us far in post-season.

Of course it is fantasy, cause even though we love him, Jeter is no slouch in the ego department and would not “relocate”. Ripken just did it to keep his streak alive.
