I wanted to hear what others had to say because I’m very conflicted. Although the other day I said I would pull the trigger, I could always pull the ‘ol Kerryesque waffle and say I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it – routine. That’s why I came up with the Dan Haren [...]

My feeling is that there is tremendous risk paying a pitcher that much money over several years. Johan did not have a great year in 2007 and it may be indicative of the beginninig of arm problems. The other risk is that Boston acguires him and makes a great team even better.
Obviously, the non financial cost [...]

What are everyone’s feelings on Santana? I’m sure everyone will want him but at what price? Does everyone feel comfortable giving up Phil Hughes and then paying him anywhere from 130 to 150 million?  Â
I was thinking last night………. maybe the better move is to try to acquire Dan Haren from Oakland. He’s 27. His stats [...]

I have to admit that I am personally very conflicted on this issue. I do not want to give up any of the “untouchable” pitchers (Chamberlain, Hughes or Kennedy for that matter). Young pitching is such a premium and helps out your payroll structure tremendously. We could acquire Santana and he could get injured with [...]

Yes, he is perhaps the best pitcher in the game now. Yes he is a “shut-down” pitcher. Yes the Yankees need a “shut-down” pitcher.
But, the Yankees have two guys (Chamberlain and Hughes) with potential to be “shut-down” pitchers. I know this is not a given, but has Santana been a given in the playoffs? The [...]

The Red Sox are making a push to acquire Johann Santana. This is the most important item and has to be handled carefully.
1) The Twins must either trade him now or hold onto him. I don’t think they will get much for him in July for a 2 month rental.
2) The fact that Santana would [...]

From the the AP wire…
” A can of bug spray used in the Yankees ‘ dugout when those tiny midges swarmed Cleveland’s Jacobs Field will be among the items up for bid in a Major League Baseball auction of memorabilia from the
2007 postseason.”
The auction, featuring more than 50 autographed and game-used
items, [...]
