The dumb thing is the line in the article “the Yankees are ready to reverse their position of not dealing with Rodriguez in free agency by offering the All-Star third baseman arbitration” No. Dumby, the whole point is to make sure you preserve your two compensation picks. They mention it later, but make it sound like the Yankees are trying to negotiate with A-Rod.
