Just for the record

Last winter, I said that the Yankees should deal with Rivera and give him a two year extension worth $30 million.  Because they waited it’s costing them an extra year.  But, Rivera deserves it.

Buh bye “Transition period”

A-Rod trusted in his agent. And trusting in Scott Boras is dangerous. So, it looks like he’s back – which is a great thing for both parties. Having the best player in baseball on your team is nothing to complain about.
The Yankees would have had a lot of needs/concerns to address to fill the void left [...]

A-fficial statement.

From A-Rod’s own web site.

After spending time with Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization.
Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to [...]

As the A-World turns.

The question is, if they sign A-Rod how close will the deal mirror my proposal from June…. I suggested a 6 year extension at $160M + the $81M still on the table from the old contract for a total of $241 over 9 years ($26.7 per year) with a player option for 2017 and 2018 [...]

Stay-Rod

More A-Rod meeting details.

About – face

John B., you may be proven correct after all is said and done.  Perhaps A-Rod is thinking that winning championships involves a little luck – if he stays with the Yankees and breaks some records – his legacy is cemented.

Banning Boras

According to the report originally published on the Daily News web site, the Yankees have no plans to negotiate with Scott Boras.  “We will not negotiate with Scott Boras,” a club source told the Daily News. “He cannot be in the room.”
Awesome.

With A-Rod, sometimes logic isn’t even logical…

Sometimes logic isn’t even logical.
My post from August 1, 2007:
Why A-Rod will Remain a Yankee
A-Rod LOVES to look at himself in the mirror wearing the Yankee pinstripes. He stares at himself in that uniform (Who wouldn’t? Randy Johnson maybe). But not because he always dreamed of being a Yankee, because of the distinction and preeminence that accompanies being a [...]

About – face

Just got back from lunch and heard the interview of Mark Feinsand of the daily news with Mike and Chris on WFAN.  Feinsand seems very confident in his source that A-Rod (through a third party) is making a deal with the Yankees, without Scott Boras involved which could be done in the next “4-5 days.”  [...]

How much is enough?

Mike G., good quote on A-Rod.  It could be that A-Rod allowed Boras to have just a little too much control over things and figured : “He’s done a good job for me in the past…”  He’s got to have second thoughts.  He just left over $200 million on the table being offered by the [...]
