Roger’s Soundtrack

“What A Fool Believes” by the Doobie Brothers.

Number 11

For post Christmas, how about a sweating, bug-eyed furious outburst by Clemens on 60 Minutes. And an unscripted walk on by Mike Piazza during the interview. Russ, we can use a Doobie Bros. cut as soundtrack backing Roger’s outrage!

All I Want for Christmas

1. A reliable, right-handed set up guy.
2. A reliable, lefty specialist who can get Big Papi out.
3. A Doobie Brothers reunion.
4. A first baseman not on ‘roids, who can play defense and hit 20 HRs.
5. An organization that treats its past stars (who were not on ‘roids) with dignity and respect.
6. A radio broadcast team [...]

Curt isn’t

“curt” is defined as “short, brief, even to the point of rudeness”. Curt Schilling may get rude, but he is never brief – the guy will bloviate about anything. He is all over Clemens today, claiming 4 of his Cy Youngs are tarnished and should be stripped. Does any teammate of his ever talk to him [...]

Clemens

Clemens is banking on enough Baseball writers believing his unequivocal denial about his use and vote him in the Hall of Fame.  That’s what the line “after 25 years of public life I should receive the benefit of the doubt” is designed to do.  Notice how McNamee’s attorney came right back and reiterated that his client was [...]

In retrospect

I like the way John S. has expressed his thoughts on this subject.
I never embraced Roger as a Yankee. I believed at the time that Piazza should have charged the mound and pounded Roger for the ego maniac that is he. I also was against the Yankees signing him last year and elevating [...]

In retrospect

Maybe the Red Sox front office was right those many years ago – a non-steroid, non-HGH Clemens was past the peak of his career. But they still would have signed him for those subsequent 150 or so subsequent wins, no doubt.  Anyway, due to steroids effects on his reproductive system, chances are the Rocket is [...]

The Clemens denial and other silly notions

Apparently Roger Clemens has issued a statement through his agent that he denies ever taking HGH or any steroid of any kind.  I didn’t have the stomach to copy and paste the statement in its entireity.
So, Roger, what you’re saying is that McNamee (a former police officer) was telling the truth with regard to Pettitte [...]

The schedule is in

The 2008 Yankees schedule has been released.  Those of us who overpay for the Sunday season ticket package will have the honor of being at the last regular season game ever in the current Yankee Stadium!
Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1:05 p.m. ET vs. the Baltimore Orioles.

The Pettitte Statement

Andy’s statement probably killed any potential lawsuit Clemens may have considered filing.  I don’t think he would have filed a suit – but now McNamee’s testimony and Pettitte’s statement appear to be consistent and it gives McNamee a greater degree of credibility for Investiators and for Mitchell to rely upon.
As for Andy himself – although [...]
