If Hughes is limited to 140 innings, he may not win 14 games.  The Yanks will need six quasi-regular pitchers to contribute wins this season.  Kei Igawa will win 13 games… and Hillary will win the nomination.  Yeah right!

Read this morning some Mussina comments on his status. He was grateful to be allowed to try out for a starting rotation slot. That’s a paraphrase but that was the message. That seems rather modest. Maybe these new arms are the real thing and Moose sees his future as cloudy.

I would generally agree with the numbers you have there. I have a feeling that Hughes may become the #2 starter this year. That being behind #1 Pettitte (see below). I’m hoping for 15+ wins out of him. I’m very optomistic.

How does everyone feel about it?  It’s early in spring but is it unreasonable to assume the following:
Wang – 18 victories; Pettitte – 15 victories, Hughes – 14 victories, Kennedy – 10 victories, Mussina – 10 victories = 67.
They only got like 62 or 63 victories out of their rotation last year.
