The Oklahoman
Feb. 29–Former major league baseball star Bobby Murcer, who underwent brain tumor surgery 14 months ago, will face another health hurdle Monday. The Oklahoma City native will return to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to have a brain biopsy. An MRI on Tuesday showed an area that concerned doctors. The biopsy will determine whether it is scar tissue from radiation treatments or a new tumor. Bobby’s wife, Kay, sent an e-mail to friends Thursday. She wrote: “Please pray that it will be determined to be necrosis (scar tissue from the radiation) and not another cancerous tumor. It’s one of the two.”
