My pick
Whitey pitches first ball to Yogi. I don’t care if they can only manage it by standing 25 feet apart. That’s the battery right there. Maybe they are saving them for last game at Stadium?

Reports are Reggie Jackson is going to throw out the first pitch on the final opening day of the Stadium. That’s fine, but in terms of making the circle complete, in my mind it should be one of the following three people, only one is still with us to this day:
1) Billy Martin – He [...]

Matsui announced his marriage today. This photo was just to surreal not to post.

I see the Yanks are down 4-1. Igawa was starting today. I read in the paper this morning that a Yankee official said that if Igawa has a good outing he becomes the “frontrunner” for the long man spot in the bullpen. Yeah ok, basically Igawa should not be permitted to touch a baseball again for [...]

Russ should get royalties from O’Connor. My fear is that the Red Sox become “America’s Team”, akin to the Dallas Cowboys ridiculous claim on that title. Hopefully, posts such as the above help to abuse that notion.

Ian O’Connor wrote this today.Â
“The Red Sox have become the Yankees, and the Yankees have become the Red Sox, and Hank and Girardi will have a hell of a time reversing the damage. They didn’t land the big pitcher, Johan Santana, who could’ve flipped the division on its ear, leaving him for a team (the [...]

The fine actor Richard Widmark died, the baseball connection is that his daughter was married to Sandy Koufax. The wonderful Koufax – shows up at spring training a few days and then disappears completely from anything media until the next year. The Anti-Curt Schilling, Sandy does quiet so beautifully. I think even guys who batted [...]

In the words of Pastor Wright – “Damn those Red Sox, the chickens have come home to roost!”Â
Anyway, I’m not worried. The pitching for the Saux is suspect. Beckett is important to their team. Dice K was ok today, but I’ll put our young guns up against theirs.Â
Today was a double edged sword, I don’t [...]

With apolgies to Gwen Verdon, Tab Hunter, and Ray Walston.
The Red Sox come back on a Manny double to win in 10. That is not good. The Yankee pitchers should greet them on their return from Tokyo right at Logan airport with high and tight pitches. C’mon Girardi, let’s see some hockey mentality this year.
NCAA and [...]

The Citizens’ Voice, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Mar. 22–TAMPA, Fla. — The first batter singled. Then he stole second. And just like that, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees starter Alan Horne was in trouble on Friday. What better time to prove himself as the team’s top pitching prospect this side of Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy? After [...]
