Were Chicagoians asking for trouble?

When your mayor is strong-arming bar owners to not sell alcohol after the 7th inning of potential series clinching games over a week before you even start the playoffs and your team has not won the World Series since 1908, you might be inviting some bad karma. Just sayin.

As soon as I read a long article in Sports Illustrated last week about the dedicated long suffering (and rarely sober) Cubs bleacher fans thinking this was their year, you just knew they were doomed. If the SI cover is often considered a jinx, a seven page article in that magazine causes immediate rigor mortis.
