Interseting TidBit.
by Mike TThe World Series is in the AL park this year because the AL won the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium this year. Why is this interesting?
Because TB 3rd Baseman, Evan Longoria hit a 2 out double in the bottom of the 8th off Billy Wagner to drive in Sizemore to tie the game 3-3.
Because TB Starting Pitcher Scott Kazmir (who pitched in the 15th) was the last AL pitcher available and was the winning pitcher. He was not even supposed to pitch because he had been pitched 115 pitches a day before.
Because Dioneer Navarro, TB Catcher, had a key hit in the bottom of the 15th, advancing Justin Morneau to 2nd base with one out; and
Because Brad Lidge, Phillies’ Closer, who didn’t blow a save all year, was the losing pitcher in that bottom of the 15th.
So the Rays and the Phillies had a lot to do with who has home field advantage, and those players never would have guessed the importance to their own teams at that time.
