Poor Melky!
by RussGetting bashed the way he does. No seriously, I agree. Open the wallet they will as they must because as you say – Boston will be there, but Tampa isn’t going anywhere either.
I think the Yankees need to become involved in the discussion on two key players:
1) Texeira: Although I’m not sold on him being an absolute “must,” the Yankees need to be in on the discussion until they determine who is going in the outfield. If they go for strictly defense in CF, then I think we need to consider getting a boost in offense at 1B. By the way – I agree – Cameron is not what I’m looking for. Austin Jackson? Well —- I don’t want to assume he’s Hensley Meulens but let’s just see what’s out there first. If there are offensive players that can be acquired in the OF (right field included), I think that solves the problem.
2) Jake Peavy: He’s available. Before unloading the “back of the truck” for Sabathia, let’s try to convince Peavy that New York is the greatest city in the world, and the best place to win. The Yankees have a good relationship with San Diego and that might help with the evaluation of our prospects. If he balks, then we’ve tried.
Very entertaining game Saturday night (for the 158 people out there that watched it). Last night, not so much. It would have been hard to top the NY Giants anyway. Nice win on the road against a good team. Impressive. Most impressive.
